Practice, Practice, Practice! My school started teaching us ten-finger technique at age 6, and I'm 22 now, so I have over 15 years of practice! What helped me most was reading, as it helped me with spelling skills and grammar. When you can look at a word and be confident how to spell it, you don't have to worry about typing each letter individually; you can simply let your fingers spell out the word for you.

My tip to improve your typing speed is to...typing normal, as fast as you can; but, not to fast to get overwhelmed, but as fast as you thing you can handle. Then look at all your blunders, write them down on a sheet of paper and practice them on power point. Example:
ssssssss ppppppppp xxxxxxxxx ////////// qqqqqqq
ssssssss ppppppppp xxxxxxxxx ///////// qqqqqqq.

Go very slowly until you build good muscle memory.
And that is how I improved & still in the process of improving more.
