- Friendship Bracelets: Introduction
People have worn bracelets for thousand of years - to show their wealth or power, for luck or simply to decorate their arms. The bracelets in this book are all made by knotting threads around each other. You can make lots of different arrangements of coloured threads. Embroidery thread comes in a rainbow of colours. It doesn't take much thread to make a bracelet, so knotted bracelets are both inexpensive and beautiful.

- Butterfly Wishes
Elzine was a special Monarch Butterfly who lived in a beautiful meadow of pink milkweed flowers near the Great Lakes. She felt very much at home here because she could flitter over her whole meadow visiting places where her mother and grandmother had once lived. Elzine was a kind and caring butterfly, who more than anything else in the world, wanted to help others. Elzine spent all day zig-zagging over her meadow gathering food from the colourful flowers.

- That Chickadee Feeling
I was bored, really, really bored. My toys were boring. Television was boring. My games were boring. Everything was boring. Even my sleeping dog, Muffy, was boring, I needed something exciting to do! My mother was busy writing a letter so I didn't want to disturb her. I had to think of a way to get her attention. I put on my most boring face and spoke to her in my most bored voice, "Mom, I'm bored, really, really, really bored." She looked at me for a long time over the top of her glasses.
