I agree that mechanical keyboards don't make you type faster, but they are very nice to type with.

One of the fastest typists, Sean Wrona uses a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard k740 which has rubber domes.

I actually disagree, i own multiple mechanical keyboards and they don't make me type any faster. they don't really function any better than a generic rubber dome keyboard (outside of lasting longer), they're more of a luxury item than anything

My tip to improve your typing speed is to... get a mechanical keyboard =)
