What really helped me improve my typing speed is... not actually reading the text as a whole thought, rather looking at each word by itself and paying more attention to what my fingers are doing; every single letter. When I read the text, I tend to skip over connecting words without typing them and type what I assume comes next which is not always correct. My fingers move very fast, but the trick is to train the brain to keep up.
