One final word of advice: Nothing's free, and if you break down and say "I can't do it" the only thing that will happen is that you WON'T do it. There's only one way to improve. If you are willing to put in the time, you will eventually type a lot faster.

Happy typing :)

After a couple of weeks (more or less, depending on how much time you spend. Don't do it so continuously that you become frustrated, remember that rest will limber up your fingers and allow you to type faster and more accurately) you'll probably see that you'll be able to match your old speeds while typing correctly and without looking at your keyboard. From that point on just keep practicing and you'll just keep getting better and better.

And if you're still up to it after an hour or of exercises, come to the typing test and see how you do.
Don't expect stellar improvement right away. In fact, you may actually be slower at first, since your fingers will be adjusting to a new form of typing. But keep at it, always hit a key with the same finger, try not to look at your keyboard (although at first it helps a bit to realize how your fingers move in order to hit the correct key) and prize your accuracy over your speed.

Actually that's great advice. But it's important to practice effectively. This web site is exactly what it says: A Typing Test. It doesn't teach you how to type. Find a web page that makes you do special exercises, and work through those.
It might seem stupid to repeatedly mash "qqq www eee rrr ttt" or "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", but see if you can do all the exercises flawlessly. If you can't, they're not as stupid as you think they are, since they will help you to develop muscle memory and finger strength.

My tip to improve your typing speed is to... practice.
