I'm less active here now, find me on Monkeytype! (@Fulmina) Heyoooo! This is my Colemak account. I try to not quit, as per usual. ^^ My first attempt at learning Colemak was actually around 2023. I've seen a lot of people on forums talk about the benefits of learning Colemak and how it is better than Qwerty, so naturally, I wanted to give it a try. However, at that time I didn't have much patience to really learn and dedicate myself to consistent practice, and so I quit and reverted back to using qwerty after only one or two days. Then in January 2025, I started to seriously consider learning Colemak again. I wasn't seeing much improvement with qwerty, and I noticed that typing for more than more than 2 minutes at a time was starting to hurt my fingers. Seeing the success stories a lot of other people have had with alternate keyboard layouts (shoutout to slow <3), and sensing that my life in general was sorta stagnating, I decided to take on this challenge and try to learn Colemak. And oh, dear, the first few days were absolutely painful! It felt like I had to relearn how to read English all over again. I even had to have a copy of the layout besides me so that I can cheat and look at where the keys are. Then, on day three, I started to notice some improvements. I'm looking at my cheat sheet less and less, and my typing speed broke 20 wpm consistently. Although my accuracy is still horrible, I'm beginning to be able to type some common words without really thinking about them, which is absolutely fantastic! I'm genuinely shocked at how much I've improved. I started out at 12 wpm, and now I can semi-consistently type over 100 wpm. My accuracy is still meh, but I hope one day I can reach my Qwerty speed of 130 wpm, which is my goal! The journey doesn't stop here! Onwards we go! Anyways, thanks for dropping by, and I wish you the best of luck!
