Possible bug? User error?

This has been happening over the last week or so, but about half of the time while I'm typing a quote, the text entry will cancel as if I randomly clicked outside of the text box. I find this out because I will hit the spacebar and the screen will scroll down. To the best of my knowledge this is not a mouse issue, and I'm using a desktop computer, not a laptop with an integrated mouse. I don't know if this is a bug, or if I accidentally found a keyboard shortcut to exit out of the text box. Does anyone here know what might be happening? It very well could be me, but I really don't know.
