Anything More Important than Quotes?

Lately, we've been fixing any reported bugs, and we have added several languages that were requested. One of the issues that always seems to pop up again and again is quotes. Part of the issue is that everyone has a different opinion of what makes a good quote, and the other side of the problem is that there are too many quotes and not enough raters. Are good quotes still the most important feature? Or phrased another way, are bad quotes still the one of the biggest problems that this site faces? My plan is to automatically "pre-rate" quotes using AI (for English anyways).
Any thoughts on this? Specifically, would eliminating terrible quotes make a big difference in your typing practice? And, if so, what makes a quote good or bad? I would really value your feedback on this.

I think most of the quotes are good. I don't like the song lyric ones but that's more personal preference I think. Having a better rating system would definitely be cool. I think the biggest issue with the current quote rating system is that you have to use your mouse to select a star value which interrupts that in-the-zone typing streak people are on. I feel like there should be a way to rate a quote without having to use your mouse. Otherwise great website I have been using it for a long time with no issues!

I feel like any quote is good as long as they're free of unintentional typos and are relatively appropriate. I think it'd be cool to add tags to quotes, so that we could get quotes around specific subjects and themes. Like, from specific tc shows, authors, historical figures, song lyrics, poetry, etc.
That way we can curate which quotes we get on our own and it's not as complicated as trying to please everyone with figuring out if every single quote is palatable to everyone on the site.

Thank you for the feedback. I will investigate this to see what options we might have. I do see that clicking on a quote then forces you to have to click back in the quote text box before you can press "Enter" to get the next quote. I can definitely see how this would throw off your rhythm.

This is a really good idea. I like this a lot. I'll need to check with our developer to see how feasible it is. Thanks so much for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

There are a lot of pending quotes.

Thanks for the reminder. We've processed all of them now. And, I'll consider this a vote for a system that can automatically approve (or deny) most/all of the submitted quotes.

Is there a way to allow users to choose different levels of minimum quality rating?

There's just a five star rating with 1 being worst and 5 being best. Can you describe in greater detail what you had in mind?
