At the same time, everybody knows well that the ideology of human rights is a product of the thought of the Enlightenment, and that the very idea of human rights belongs to the specific context of Western modernity. The question then arises of knowing if the narrowly circumscribed origin of this ideology does not implicitly contradict its pretensions to universality.
