I disagree, it is more than suitable to type an acronym correctly when presented in a quote. Further, to omit any quote that does contains acronyms due to atypical typing seems heavy handed.

Well articulated argument Catrice. I believe you're absolutely correct on all your points
catrice 5 years ago
Okay, fine, you can use it for certain acronyms. That doesn't make it suitable for a typing test, because the test is supposed to represent typical typing. This is for the same reason tests don't include special characters, for instance, real ellipses… we use "..." instead of …" because the ellipsis isn't a frequently used character, even though it would be more correct to include the actual character. Special characters are not used. ©

In addition, I would argue that we don't need to practice use of the Caps Lock for two reasons. One, it isn't that hard to hold down the Shift key when typing those acronyms such as NASA, BLM, YMCA. Use of the Caps Lock LENDS ITSELF MORE TO TYPING FULL SENTENCES OR PHRASES IN ALL CAPS than to the acronyms it's used for. Though you have to hold down the Shift key for longer, you would have to press the Caps Lock button twice.

There is frequently reason to use all caps. Prevalent acronyms for instance: NASA, BLM, BBB, YMCA, UNICEF...etc...etc...
catrice 5 years ago
There is NEVER any reason to use ALL CAPS!
jprudhome 5 years ago
I disagree. The variation makes it all the more suitable. Good practice for using Caps Lock.
catrice 5 years ago
Whatever the reason, it alone makes the quote unsuitable for a typing website.

LORD in all caps means YHWH, the Tetragrammaton (the letters for the Lord's personal name) was used in this verse.
mumma 5 years ago
Ha! I didn't even notice that. Good eye Catrice
catrice 5 years ago
Apparently the rules have changed and one is supposed to use ALL CAPS on the word "LORD" instead of capitalizing "He".
mumma 5 years ago
Um...aren't you religious people supposed to capitalize the word 'he' when referencing your 'god'?
