The real problem is that you can't teach history without some kind of bias. It's baked right into the lessons. Therefore, extreme care should be taken to present history from different perspectives to establish a well rounded understanding of what really happened, why, and what we can learn from it. This never happens in school though. You are at the mercy of the government who dictates how they want to shape your mind. In America we have the internet to counteract this force. In places like China, they literally don't even know about a lot of important historical epochs. For instance the atrocities of Communism. Those details have been effectively erased from the population's collective memory.
