Meanings - David Lynch

This quote was added by chumbuckle
It makes me uncomfortable to talk about meanings and things. It's better not to know so much about what things mean. Because the meaning, it's a very personal thing, and the meaning for me is different than the meaning for somebody else.

This quote is terrible. Words have definitions and you can't deny the reality of things because of a personal preference. I won't deny that you can have an additional personal meaning attached, but that is no excuse for denying yourself the truth. Forced refusal of reality is probably the reason TALKING about things makes you uncomfortable, that is simply stark evidence of immaturity.

That's a very roundabout way of saying you're dumb.
