You could make that same argument about virtually everything. Base your argument on averages over a span of time and it won't hold up. Our fear of terrorism is disproportionately high when measured against all sorts of dangers we face casually every day. The daily commutes through rush-hour traffic, for example. Or deaths caused by prescription drugs. Most of us aren't terrified by these things.

You are many times more likely to die choking on food than you are to be killed by a foreign terrorist, and yet most of us look forward to our meals.

This comments is only true because there is no defined time period for the claim it makes. If the year 2001 is used then the statement is false. Alternatively, is the year 2000 is used the statement is true.
