In a group project, one teammate didn’t complete their part on time. At first, I felt frustrated and worried about our grade. Once, I misunderstood an assignment deadline and submitted late. I was embarrassed because I try to stay reliable. I took responsibility, apologized to my professor, and asked if there was any way to make it up. I also started using a calendar system to avoid similar mistakes. I learned that admitting mistakes quickly shows integrity, and I became better at organization and time management.
A coach once told me my presentation was unclear. At first, I felt defensive, because I had worked hard on it. I asked for specific suggestions and practiced incorporating their advice. The next presentation went much smoother, and I received positive feedback. I learned to see feedback as an opportunity for growth rather than criticism, and that humility makes me a better learner.
In a group project, the workload was unevenly distributed. I ended up doing much more than others, but when we got feedback, everyone was credited equally. At first, I felt disappointed and underappreciated. Instead of dwelling on the unfairness, I reflected on how I could prevent it next time. I spoke with the group early in our next project to set clearer expectations and timelines. I also learned to advocate for myself respectfully when I feel something isn’t fair. I realized that unfairness will happen sometimes, but how I respond matters. I learned the value of setting boundaries, using assertive but respectful communication, and focusing on growth instead of resentment.
On my skiing team, I once felt I wasn’t getting equal training opportunities compared to others, which was discouraging. Instead of staying upset, I spoke to my coach privately. I explained how I was feeling and asked what I could improve. They clarified the reason and gave me tips to work on. I realized the situation wasn’t favoritism but skill-based. From this, I learned the importance of respectful communication, advocating for myself, and staying open to feedback.
Barrier: An object that keeps a person or things separated from others or prevents them from moving freely. It is also something that causes problems or makes it impossible for something to happen.

Artículo 1.
Las Instituciones penitenciarias reguladas en la presente Ley tienen como fin primordial la
reeducación y la reinserción social de los sentenciados a penas y medidas penales
privativas de libertad, así como la retención y custodia de detenidos, presos y penados.
Igualmente tienen a su cargo una labor asistencial y de ayuda para internos y liberados.
Artículo 2.
La actividad penitenciaria se desarrollará con las garantías y dentro de los límites
establecidos por la Ley, los reglamentos y las sentencias judiciales.
Artículo 3.
La actividad penitenciaria se ejercerá respetando, en todo caso, la personalidad humana
de los recluidos y los derechos e intereses jurídicos de los mismos no afectados por la
condena, sin establecerse diferencia alguna por razón de raza, opiniones políticas,
creencias religiosas, condición social o cualesquiera otras circunstancias de análoga
naturaleza.
En consecuencia:
1. Los internos podrán ejercitar los derechos civiles, políticos, sociales, económicos y
culturales, sin exclusión del derecho de sufragio, salvo que fuesen incompatibles con el
objeto de su detención o el cumplimiento de la condena.
2. Se adoptarán las medidas necesarias para que los internos y sus familiares conserven
sus derechos a las prestaciones de la Seguridad Social, adquiridos antes del ingreso en
prisión.
3. En ningún caso se impedirá que los internos continúen los procedimientos que tuvieren
pendientes en el momento de su ingreso en prisión y puedan entablar nuevas acciones.
4. La Administración penitenciaria velará por la vida, integridad y salud de los internos.
5. El interno tiene derecho a ser designado por su propio nombre.
Artículo 4.
1. Los internos deberán:
a) Permanecer en el establecimiento a disposición de la autoridad que hubiere decretado
su internamiento o para cumplir las condenas que se les impongan, hasta el momento de
su liberación.
b) Acatar las normas de régimen interior, reguladoras de la vida del establecimiento,
cumpliendo las sanciones disciplinarias que le sean impuestas en el caso de infracción de
aquéllas, y de conformidad con lo establecido en el artículo 44.
c) Mantener una normal actitud de respeto y consideración con los funcionarios de
instituciones penitenciarias y autoridades judiciales o de otro orden, tanto dentro de los
establecimientos penitenciarios como fuera de ellos con ocasión de traslado,
conducciones o prácticas de diligencias.
d) Observar una conducta correcta con sus compañeros de internamiento.
2. Se procurará fomentar la colaboración de los internos en el tratamiento penitenciario
con arreglo a las técnicas y métodos que les sean prescritos en función del diagnóstico
individualizado.
Artículo 5.
El régimen de prisión preventiva tiene por objeto retener al interno a disposición de la
autoridad judicial. El principio de la presunción de inocencia presidirá el régimen
penitenciario de los preventivos.
Artículo 6.
Ningún interno será sometido a malos tratos de palabra u obra.

Los establecimientos penitenciarios comprenderán:
a) Establecimientos de preventivos.
b) Establecimientos de cumplimiento de penas.
c) Establecimientos especiales.
Artículo 8.
1. Los establecimientos de preventivos son centros destinados a la retención y custodia
de detenidos y presos. También podrán cumplirse penas y medidas penales privativas de
libertad cuando el internamiento efectivo pendiente no exceda de seis meses.
2. En cada provincia podrá existir más de un establecimiento de esta naturaleza.
3. Cuando no existan establecimientos de preventivos para mujeres y jóvenes, ocuparán
en los de hombres departamentos que constituyan unidades con absoluta separación y
con organización y régimen propios.
Artículo 9.
1. Los establecimientos de cumplimiento son centros destinados a la ejecución de las
penas privativas de libertad. Se organizarán separadamente para hombres y mujeres y
serán de dos tipos: de régimen ordinario y abierto.
2. Los jóvenes deberán cumplir separadamente de los adultos en establecimientos
distintos o, en todo caso, en departamentos separados. A los efectos de esta Ley, se
