Islam is one of the world's major monotheistic religions, founded in the 7th century CE in the Arabian Peninsula. The word "Islam" means "submission" in Arabic, referring to submission to the will of Allah (God). Muslims believe that Islam is the final and complete revelation of a faith that began with the Prophet Adam and continued through many prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. The final prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), received the revelation of the Qur'an.
