A large proportion of the commercial flights which route over the united kingdom are on trans atlantic journeys, many from different parts of Europe, and even the middle east, as well as the united kingdom. The highest number of flights going through the shanwick oceanic control area on any one day was on 30th June 2016 when 1,727 crossed through the area. Shanwick radio copies the position reports.
