Nobody - Lonely
When you are little and lonely, the last kid picked for the game - if you are even picked at all. The kid nobody eats lunch with or invites to their sleepovers unless their mothers insist on everyone being invited - and that's worse, so much worse. Adults tell you that "when you are older you will find true friends, friends who appreciate you just the way you are." It's bull, all of it. Those true friends, for some of us, never show up.

Joe vs the Volcano - Sleeping people
My father says that almost everyone is asleep. Everyone you meet, everyone you see, everyone you talk to. Only a few people are awake and they live in a state of constant, total amazement.

Shakespeare - Much Ado About Nothing
There's little of the melancholy element in her, my lord; she is never sad but when she sleeps; and not ever sad then! For I have heard my daughter say, she hath often dreamt of unhappiness and waked herself with laughing!

Lauren - Something to Ponder - Part 2
The untold story of the Lost Boy, a merry member of Peter Pan's band of brigands, is one that has always enticed me. Were they trapped on Neverland? Could they actually die by the hand of a pirate? I also wonder about Captain Hook's crew of pirates... from whence did they come? Were they also taken from our world? Were they once business men? Fathers? Or among the homeless? Were they once Lost Boys who chose another path? These are the things I think about sometimes...

Lauren - Something to Ponder - Part 1
The Lost Boys come to Neverland - to Peter - from the normal world, right? Taken from our realm, they travel with Peter Pan or Tinkerbell or other fairies perhaps. Are they stolen? Kidnapped? Enticed to leave on their own accord with promises of adventure and a parentless existence? Perhaps they were even rescued from starving in streets and alleys. Missing children are hardly a novelty and thinking of them alive and well and living in Neverland is far better than the alternative, right?

Sense and Sensibility (1995) - Eleanor's heart
What do you know of my heart? What do you know of anything but your own suffering? For weeks, Marianne, I've had this pressing on me without being at liberty to speak of it to a single creature. It was forced on me by the very person whose prior claims ruined all my hope. I have endured her exultations again and again whilst knowing myself to be divided from Edward forever. Believe me, Marianne, had I not been bound to silence I could have provided proof enough of a broken heart, even for you.

Kirk meets Bones - Star Trek (2009)
Don't pander to me, kid. One tiny crack in the hull and our blood boils in thirteen seconds. Solar flare might crop up, cook us in our seats. And wait'll you're sitting pretty with a case of Andorian shingles, see if you're still so relaxed when your eyeballs are bleeding. Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence." "Well, I hate to break this to you, but Starfleet operates in space." "Yeah. Well I got nowhere else to go. The ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce.

Jane Austen - Good Company
"My idea of good company...is the company of clever, well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company." "You are mistaken," said he gently, "that is not good company, that is the best."

Lauren - Differing Opinions
I have read many "quotes" requesting (demanding more like) people stop posting inspirational quotes. One writer even went so far as to say they would rather type the Bee Movie script than type inspirational quotes. Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that I enjoy the variety of quotes on this site. So many typing sites make you type the same script over and over again, so tedious. Please keep submitting your wondrous variety! It makes a dull day go by pleasantly.

Unknown - Truth and Lies
"The truth is the truth, even if no one believes it. And a lie is a lie, even if everyone believes it." This is something my mother told me and I've never been able to forget. Thinking about it brings me both clarity and confusion.

Lauren - answering a quote
I have been typing at my desk all day. It's slow today and I have the time. I ran across a quote from a fellow typist. She or he or they made a comment about how this site has introduced them to books and movies and shows, and how that was unexpected. I have experienced something similar. I do this because I truly want to improve my accuracy and WPM but also I find the quotes on this site to be much more interesting than other sites I've been on.

Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice
There are few people who I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the disconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.

Astrid Lindgren, Pippi Longstocking - You understand teacher...
You understand teacher, don't you? that when you have a mother who's an angel and a father who is a cannibal king, and when you have sailed on the ocean all your whole life, then you don't know just how to behave in school with all the apples and ibexes.
