Changing your PC over to Dvorak is actually quite easy. In your Control Panel, in the Keyboard settings, you will see a tab for "Input Locales." If you want to use Dvorak, simply select a Dvorak layout from the drop down on this screen (please note - you may have to re-start running applications for the change to take effect within them).

Dvorak is easy to pick up, taking about half as long as Qwerty. That is little comfort to those who are already familiar with Qwerty, as it means starting over. However, the benefits certainly make it worth spending a couple of weeks learning to type all over again. For many of us, that is actually a benefit, since many computer users never learned to type properly in the first place.

Dvorak is an alternative to Qwerty. It is a keyboard layout designed to minimize movement, and make typing easy and painless. The idea behind it is to have the most commonly typed keys under the fingers, and make it easy to type common words and combinations of letters. To give you a perspective, consider that if average Dvorak typist's fingers travel one mile in a day of typing, Qwerty typist's will travel anything 16 to 20 miles a day. By the way, don't ask me the proof for above example.

Many of you guys daily visit this website to improve your typing speed and accuracy. I also came to this website for that only. But, recently I attended an interview. I have all the technical skills they want. Since I am not good in communicating in English fluently, they rejected me. So, from now on, I am going to create a quote per day. So that I can get to know about new words, if I want to post a quote daily. Wish me luck!

Don't try to forcefully put yourself into the world of typing. Just make sure that typing is not all about speed. Just giving your best at one point of time and doing normal in all other typing test is not that good. Maintaining a consistent speed and with high accuracy matters more. Learn typing as a one of the things that will help you in doing better at important times in your life. Not as your whole life. Don't be pressured. Just learn and don't get tired. Good luck!
