Although religions spread messages of harmony, love, and forgiveness, the media inform us almost every day about all kinds of religious evil, that is, forms of evil that are directly inspired and justified by people's religious convictions. Hence, it is no wonder that quite a number of our contemporaries conclude that we would be better off without religion, since it is the cause of the suffering and death of innumerable innocent people.
