2022-07-29_ After doing enough games to register a changed average, let's update things to see where I am at. I feel like the main difference is not the keyboard as much as it is changing from pressing the spacebar with my right index to my left thumb that accounts for the big discrepancy in speed.

Left thumb is just in need of practice and drills to keep improving.

2022-07-27_ So 2 weeks ago I started typing on a new keyboard. I was doing dreadfully. It's the split keyboard that Geoff had and has revealed a lot of poor habits in my typing, e.g. not pressing space with left thumb, reaching for B with my right hand, reaching for Y with my left.

Now I'm kinda back to where I started, typing at max 60-65 wpm on monkeytype. But it should be onwards and upwards from there.

2022-07-01_ It remains true that generally the first 15 mins of typing for the day has my fingers moving super well. Nicely oiled up. After that it must be fatigue slowing them down, causing miss-hits or no-hits. It's the difference between consistent 80+ WPM and maybe 65+ with lots of errors, sometimes dropping below 70.

2022-06-16_ Today I hit 100WPM on typetest_io 30 seconds. This is my second 30 min practice session for the day, and during this one I really hit my stride for a bit. My fingers have just felt faster and generally more accurate. Feelsgood JPG

2022-06-04_ I realise I go the the date wrong in my last post, whoops haha. Anyone I'm feeling a little bit quicker now. But still it is high accuracy that eludes me. Particularly when I've been practicing for a while and my fingers/brain are a little fatigued. Accuracy will be my focus for now.

3033-05-17_ A couple days off and I feel like I'm a disaster. Perhaps it's better to compare myself to where I started this journey, rather than to the dizzying peak I was sitting on only last week. Better for my sanity.

2022-05-06_ It's interesting that in the last week I've dipped to my lowest scores in a while, almost back to my original baseline, before bouncing up to new peaks; including my first 90wpm with 100%. Before falling back to an average (because I kept typing while my fingers were fatigued) haha.

2022-04-30_ Been working hard this week and also trying a new website that uses an algorithm to make me write words and use letters that I often mess up. I feel like it has been helping my accuracy, but I'm still waiting to see proper improvements. Also yesterday I typed for too long and tanked my ratings haha.

2022-04-22_ I've taken a week break sorta from practice. But things are still trending upward which is great. No speed increase this time but accuracy has gone up which is even better.

The trend line on my graph tells a story.

I started with bad habits (right index spacebar) and got pretty fast. From 50 > 70 WPM with heights of 100wpm on other 1 min tests.

Then I recalibrated my striking pattern to use my left thumb on spacebar and that was the first dip. I got back to nearly 70 wpm average.

The next dip was when I recalibrated again, to have a right thumb spacebar, and overall update my striking pattern to be true to the home row method. And overcome bad habits from index spacebar striking days (like using right middle for U).

Now I have good typing form at ~70 wpm average, and I'm hoping to reach a consistent 80+ wpm with accuracy >97.5% here.
