If every person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary - the world really would be a better place. And if you do this, if you act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you, in every single one of you, the face of God.
Very well said. While I understand what you're saying, it's difficult for an atheist to hear the term 'god' used without assuming it was intended in the most literal way. I think the same sentiment could be expressed without bringing a god into it
I disagree about this being a religious quote. At no point does it mention any religion. The face of God can be whatever you want it to be, whatever you want it to mean. Even if you are an atheist, you know that "the face of God" means something beautiful and powerful beyond description. And so many of the world's great quotes do reference God, whether directly or in the abstract, that by not using a quote simply because it has the word "God" in it, is really selling the young people short.
Well this was a very nice quote until it was befouled by the religious content at the end. Religious quotes are not allowed on this site. When I see one, I feel compelled to post what would be considered 'anti religious' in an effort to balance things out. There are a lot of younger, more impressionable users on this site and I believe young people should be exposed to a variety of religious views so that they can determine, for themselves, what they choose to believe
