Writing Advice

So I finally started writing the book that I've been thinking about for around two years now. The only problem is, I want it to be written a certain way, and I don't think I'll write it the way I want it to be written. The reading level of my writing is lower than I realized, and the book (which I had hoped to be for students in high school) is at a 7th-8th grade reading level. How can I make my writing better?
Use more complex words while trying to make them easy to understand with the context that you include. Large terms like hard words will inflate your reading level from a 7th-8th grade level to somewhere in between highschool and a college level depending on what words you use.

Can you not take a writing class to improve your level?

I disagree with previous advice you've been given....simply increasing the complexity of the words you use WILL NOT improve your writing or the readability of it. Using "big words" doesn't help if the grammar and syntax surrounding them is flawed.

Writing is a skill...learn it....see if you can find, and enroll in, a composition class in your area
