typing in foreign languages

Hi guys,

I've tried a few tests in English, and I was quite amazed to see that I was typing at 35-45 wpm while I'm working my way to 60 wpm when writing in French, my native language. I would have expected to be closer to my French results.

How do you guys compare when writing in other languages that you speak more or less fluently and use, if not daily, at least frequently?
I used to type faster in Vietnamese, around 90-95 wpm, when I used to more often as that's my native language. But now I type a little faster in English after writing a lot of essays in college, around 100 wpm.

Personally, for me, typing in English is the easiest. Even though it's not my first language, I feel like the words come more naturally to me than anything else. In English I can consistently hit 90-100 WPM, while in French I can only hit maybe 50-75 WPM.

I also tend to do better in English than my native Czech. I think it's because Czech requies the use of the top row for all the accented characters, whereas you can type English using just the three main rows.

Sometimes, though, English really trips me up with words I've never seen before and I have to really focus on the individual letters so that I don't mess the word up.

I have a 120 wpm in English. My wpm drops to 80 to 90 when typing foreign languages that also use Latin letters (Indonesian, Spanish, etc.)

Russian is much harder though, because it uses Cyrillic letters. My wpm there is 55.
