I think my opinion here might not be so popular, but I like song lyrics as long as they are typed in normal sentences, with normal punctuation, and most importantly, would pass for a book quote when read by someone who never heard the song.

I think I actually agree with you on this. But it can be annoying sometimes for sure. I don't really have a lot of room to speak on bad quotes posted though xD.

I think I agree with you sillysad. For me it really comes down to how well they adapted the lyrics into a more "bookish" format. mcspeller, it sounds like your complaint is more about being frustrated by "gag" songs and repetitive quotes than about song lyrics in general.

It would be nice if there was more control over what quotes you can train on, such as being able to block specific quotes, blocking repeats, or other filter parameters like length. But it would have to be implemented in some kind of sandbox mode like the instant death typing mode. Otherwise you would be compromising the uniformity of the wpm stats that are used for the leaderboards. And regardless of the leaderboard (which is pretty irrelevant), I think that measuring wpm based on the least constrained set of quotes (including repeats) is gonna be the most representative of real wpm.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the repetitiveness of the lyrics. I have a problem with being a musician. I type along with the rhythm of the song, which is ironic, because it slows me down rather than keeping my fingers consistent. Also, it is against the quote rules, so I don't exactly like to see them either way.

I personally don't hate song lyrics on this site if they are formatted well. Guess I'm also with you on this one, sillysad.
