Should I switch to normal typing?

I'm a self taught typist that can type at around 80-90 WPM at 93-97% accuracy depending on the day, but I type incorrectly. My fingers are all over the place, far from what's taught as the best way. What i'm wondering is if I should take the switch to keeping my fingers around the same keys, or keep practicing as is.

It really depends. You can try making the switch and practice for a couple of weeks/months. Don't be discouraged, but at first your typing speed will get waaaay down. But once you get the hang of it, and really learn to touch type, you'll start typing words by muscle memory and very consistently. I think it's superior to how you're typing now. On the other hand, if you feel like you don't need to improve your speed, than leave everything as it is. But in the end, practicing touch typing will never make you a worse typist!

I would suggest you learn to type with good form, the sooner you start the sooner you can get used to it... It's going to be a struggle but it will be worth it in the end cause you will have a better chance of increasing your speed compared to how you are doing it now.
A lot of people settle to what they have been doing for a while and are scared to change even if that is going to make them improve. Yes it is going to be uncomfortable at the start and you will fight the urge to go back to your old form but stick to it.
