How man WPM do errors take off your score?

How many words per minute do I lose if i make an error, backspace, and fix it? If you don't count the time it takes to fix it, is there any sort of automatic penalty that comes with making errors?
This is from the bottom of the page of the typing tests.
"WPM calculation
You can look at the definition of WPM. If you happen to have a penalty it means that you did not fix errors during the typing test. Not fixing the errors (when the text turns red) will lower your WPM by the amount next to the speed. The penalty is proportional to the length of the text that was not fixed."
Not very specific, but that's all I found.
