I have been practicing typing for the better part of two months now and over the past week, I've gone completely downhill. I was alright speeds with decent accuracy now I'm in the 30's and 40's again, I've also decreased in accuracy. Not sure whats going on here. Any help is much apprecieted.
oh good, then you only keep to keep typing, also a good (and weird) technique is to breathe normally while typing, I have noticed in myself that before I used to held my breath. A good exercise is to just type your thinkings in a notepad for minutes and notice the breathing, maybe that's an unusual advice but it helped me a lot. I hope you keep improving!

It's usually cause of finger fatigue. When my hands gets tired, my speed and accuracy just dips like crazy. I would just call it a day and try again tomorrow. If you try to force it when you're tired, you start to develop bad habits (e.g. typing that one letter wrong every time).

Also when typing, try to focus on accuracy more than speed. Speed will eventually catch up once you're nailing those 95% higher! Overtime, you'll get very consistent improvements after a few months.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

You're most likely right, I'll definitely focus more on my accuracy as it has been holding me back.
Thank you for your reply!

Are you typing with all the fingers? Stick with the asdf-jkl;-row method and you will improve a lot, just try to improve accuracy and speed will also improve.

Yes, I have been using all my fingers for about a month now, still getting used to it. Though, I think it was just a blip as I've managed to get my speed and accuracy up a bit.
Still not perfect, but improving!

this is a totally natural part of the process of long term mastery. My history curve shows periods of increase and then a drop, then periods of plateau / increase / drop. It's just your brain processing the new neural pathways and competence. The process has been outlined in George Leonard's excellent book 'Mastery'

I'll give this a shot, I've never really paid attention to my breathing when typing before.
Thanks again for the advice!

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely look into reading that book.

I have the same thing, it goes slowly up for a while and than I have a fallback. Seems a natural process. Mostly after that period I can type faster than ever before.
