Does anyone else hate typing the word 'hope?'

That and the word 'they'll.' At least with the word 'they'll,' I can just type 'they will' and that is a hell lot easier and sounds a lot more proper.

I hope that one day I will never have to type the word hope ever again and I hope that if I do that I am good at typing hope quickly and efficiently.

One possible reason you possibly hate typing the word 'hope' is because the keystrokes for one of the keys is incorrect.

Not for me, I use Colemak :D
I type 'hope' as if I'm typing
h;rk
and 'they'll' as if I'm typing
fhko'uu
It's very easy on the fingers, and most letters I press are on the home row (ASDF row on QWERTY). Although I understand that not everybody has the opportunity to change keyboard layouts.
In any case, it may just be a case of being used to typing a word; or muscle memory, I guess. Just my opinion :)

I read this whole reply and I still don't know what an orthocube is :(

If you hate typing 'hope' you'll probably hate typing 'population' too :D

this was a cute exercise, at least to me, because -- really -- someone who can type already shouldn't have to think about how they type any particular word or sequence of keystrokes. you should just type them, and improvement should come from muscle memory, muscle changes in the hand, and -- more than anything -- being well-rested.
though i didn't see any need to amend my advice, i also don't disagree that 'hope' is an unsatisfying key sequence w/ QWERTY.
as i watched my hand type the word 'hope' a whole bunch of times, it felt unusual enough that i figured i would have to distract myself into typing candidly to see how i "really" typed the word -- i assume any kind of focus on the hands (such as: when typing as fast as possible) can interfere with your unconscious strategy for performing the keystrokes.
for both cases: right index finger hits h, right middle hits o, right ring hits p, left middle finger hits e.
i could feel a bit of stress on my hand doing this, so i assume that if this is not just natural to you, it could be uncomfortable or difficult to perform. still, i can't see that there are many options that let you type this word without sacrificing momentum or some small fraction of speed. hth, because i've put plenty extra thought into this

I really appreciate your input! This was very well thought out, tested, and very beautifully typed. Thank you for your understanding! I can tell that you must be a beast when it comes to writing papers! Thank god, I've already jumped over that hurdle!

I love typing population! Just something about typing "hop" that I do not like. Good thing I am not writing a book about bunnies.

Don't be afraid to break the rules when it comes to which fingers hit which keys. i touch type with index fingers on f and j, but that's where it ends. dance a ballet, modern dance, hip hop; put music on and stagger your key presses to the beat in 16ths, 32nds. my favorite rhythm is staggered, each 4th, and the last 32nd with its following 4th. type really slowly just for the hell of it. type with one hand while you scratch your nuts or play games on your phone or look for things in your desk. who cares? if you're typing accurately (>92% is 'average' which i'd say is sufficient for one hand) and you finish in the time you've set for yourself, you haven't failed yourself, you're a success, and you're probably more satisfied. a success+!

ikasu...you really ought to make this a quote for people to type. Just edit where your caps should be and your god to go. This is award winning!! And do you know how long I've been trying to figure out how to scratch my nuts while type at the same time???? Killing two birds with one stone!

It probably means that you have trouble coordinating between your ring and pinky fingers. Keeping your hands farther forward on the keyboard (so that you curl your fingers more) may help.

I don't hate typing "hope," but I absolutely despise typing "people."

Yes!!! Agreed. Typing 'People' is super annoying.
I also hate typing 'opinions'.
Not had any problems with 'hope', yet...

I personally hate typing the word 'ideas' - it always trips me up despite a whole lot of repetitively typing the word for practice
