Montessori focuses on real-life experiences, natural curiosity, and independent learning. Montessori teachers are seen as guides and observers and the students are grouped by ability, not age. Waldorf focuses on imagination, fantasy, and holistic advancement through creativity and imagination. Waldorf teachers direct students. Waldorf schools were historically Christian-based, but are now adapting to a more pluralistic spirituality.
