Tips To Minorly Improve Your Typing Skills

First things before reading this post:
-I do not guarantee these tips will help instantly or perfectly, I found these by personal experience.

-I would love to hear your feedback on this forum and extra tips for others.

As a fan of this website, I find increasing my WPM quite time consuming, but I have tips to increase it by some amounts.

Tip 1: Don't hit keys too hard.
When you type, it only needs a little bit of power, if you pound your fingers on your keyboard, it'll take you a bit longer to raise your fingers up after applying force to the key, so only hit the keys as much as needed and don't be too angry at the keyboard.

Tip 2: Get a custom keyboard.
Some old keyboards may not work as much as a Razer Chroma keyboard, which is why you should get another one, but I still don't recommend too expensive keyboards, just stick to your budgets and you'll get better working keyboards.

Tip 3: Find your custom finger placement.
Having the Home Row finger placement may be seeming tiring, which is why people use custom finger placement/fingerings. I personally use my left hand fully and only 3 fingers on my right hand, everyone wants it differently, find yours.

Tip 4: Don't be scared.
Backspacing is tiring, but that's not a reason to be afraid to make mistakes, just realize when you make one, you don't want to forget any. But don't do this too much, still try to prevent mistakes, but don't be afraid to hit many keys at once.

Tip 5: Reading a word fully. (For copying mostly)
When you type, you need some time to read too, that makes you type slower. To prevent that, try pre-reading the word before even typing it, getting you a head start. Also don't build a habit of only reading the first 2 letters in a word and thinking it is what you think it is. such as "Hectagonal" and you only read the first to words, and you might mistake it for "Hexagonal".

Tip 6: Don't be discouraged.
Don't be down because the WPM stat only says 11.59, really, basically don't be competitive until you feel good about yourself, it's not good to feel down while trying to practice.

Tip 7: Get used to words, not typing each letter.
Memorize a few words that are used constantly, like "You", "Me" or "Maintain", and you don't have to look at every letter there and actually rely on muscle memory.

Tip 8: Race your score.
You remember when you only got 21.37 WPM? Leave it behind and double it, because that 21.37 is not enough, nothing is ever enough, race to the finish of mastery!

Tip 9: Good use of everything.
Don't leave anything behind that YOU have, like your pinky finger on your right hand, yeah, it's still good for use, it may not seem like it, but anything could be put to good use if you try.

Tip 10: Be sure.
If you think your fingers are in the right place and this is your finger placement, than be sure about it, if you're not, find a better one or an alternative. Not sure you can beat your score? Think about it, go the short way and give up, or, you could go all the way there, and be sure you can.

Thank you for being here! Leave a message if you think I did anything wrong, or you could add a tip for others to read! <3
